Description

This linear open space is centred on a reach of the lower Tolworth Brook. The site is a mosaic of re-grown woodland, scrub and patches of unmanaged grassland, as well as a broad area of mown amenity grassland. A Local Nature Reserve managed by the borough council.

Wildlife

Blocks of young woodland are dominated by small-leaved elm and blackthorn. Old hedgerows contain a range of native shrubs. Long grass areas vary in their diversity, with some supporting a typical range of neutral floodplain plants. The Tolworth Brook flows in a concrete channel here, but supports abundant water-cress in one section.Birds include jay, great spotted woodpecker, kingfisher and song thrush.The ringlet butterfly is also seen regularly at the site.

Car parking. The Stirling Walk crosses the site.
