Description

An open space with extensive areas of semi-improved neutral grasslands.

Wildlife

A small open space, which has recently been improved with additional funding and support from Groundwork Southwark and Lambeth. It is mostly amenity grassland and scattered trees but has significant amounts of infrequently mown semi-improved neutral grasslands, particularly in a depression that once was a pond. These grasslands combined with large patches of variety of climbers such as honeysuckle, bindweeds, and ruderals, attract a number of invertebrates particularly, grasshoppers, bumblebees, wasps, hoverflies and small skipper butterflies. The former pond has some remnant hard rush and yellow iris indicating its former usage. The lime, sycamore, horse-chestnut and poplar trees, found mostly around the edge, support great spotted woodpeckers as well as other common birds.
