Description

This sizeable park contains extensive meadows, in an area of New Cross that is deficient in accessible wildlife sites.

Wildlife

Around half the site is covered in rough grassland, which is the main conservation interest. The most frequently occurring grasses are false oat-grass, cock's-foot, Yorkshire fog, red fescue and wall barley. There are a number of wildflowers present, including cow parsley, lesser burdock, mugwort, rosebay willowherb, common mallow, hawkweed oxtongue, ribwort plantain and common nettle.The other important feature for wildlife is the presence of dense scrub comprising hawthorn, field maple, blackthorn, dog-rose, bramble and elder. There are a few scattered trees, especially poplars false acacia, ash and Norway maple.
