Description

Cannizaro Park is the premier historic park of Merton borough, located to the south of Wimbledon Common. The park contains the source of a stream that runs west down the hill to Beverley Brook. It is included in English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens as a Grade II* listed garden.

Wildlife

The park has over 400 species of trees, shrubs and herbs in an attractive landscaped setting, with views out over the Royal Wimbledon Golf Course to Coombe Hill on the other side of Beverley Brook. The mature trees support locally uncommon species, such as the nuthatch and treecreeper. Apart from the variety of mature trees, the site also has grassland interest near Cannizaro House. This lies over sandy gravels and supports a number of characteristic species. A short length of the Wimbledon Brook runs from here into the adjacent site, the Royal Wimbledon Golf Course.

Facilities
