Accessible Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation

Fun Forest
Borough: Newham
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 0.82 ha

Description

The Fun Forest is a small area of formerly derelict land, now landscaped as a small public open space. There is open access, and the site is well used, providing a gateway to nature in an area deficient in accessible wildlife sites. There is considerable potential for using Fun Forest as a local educational and recreational resource focused on nature conservation, with scope for volunteer involvement.

Wildlife

The site contains developing woodland, consisting of both self-seeded and planted trees, as well as scrub, and small patches of grassland, tall flowers, ruderals and bare ground.
