Clayhall Park
Borough: Redbridge
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 14.47 ha

Description

This large park is situated in the centre of a built-up area with little accessible wildlife habitat. Redbridge Walk to Health Initiative uses this site – a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme; see link for details.

Wildlife

Mature trees include pedunculate oak, ash, horse chestnut and sycamore. The grass is mostly very short mown but, where it has been allowed to grow a little taller, there are signs of a more herb-rich flora developing, including yarrow, cat's-ear and smooth hawk's-beard. A good range of common birds is found here including mistle thrush.
