Area: 8.02 ha

Description

Loxford Park is an attractive, large site with plenty of trees and shrubs.

Wildlife

The park is interestingly landscaped, especially at its western end. Here, numerous mature trees, including ash, common lime and sycamore, and dense shrubberies provide good habitat for common birds. Much of the eastern half of the park consists of closely mown sports pitches. There are, however, signs of more herb-rich grassland habitats developing where it is allowed to grow a little. Grasses such as sweet vernal-grass, meadow barley, meadow foxtail, meadow-grasses and common bent, and wildflowers such as birdsfoot-trefoil, meadow buttercup and hoary ragwort suggest the frequent mowing might hide a diverse meadow flora.
