Well Brook, Navestock Crescent Recreation Ground
Borough: Redbridge
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 0.29 ha

Description

This is a small tributary of the River Roding, flowing through a narrow strip of woodland between Chigwell Road and the recreation ground. The stream retains some of its natural features, with clear water flowing over a bed of fine gravel and sand. The adjacent amenity grassland is in a hollow at or below the level of the stream, and might therefore be targeted for a wet grassland creation project.

Wildlife

Plants at this site include common club-rush, floating sweet-grass and water-plantain. The woodland contains oak, field maple and crack-willow.
