Description

This pleasant Victorian churchyard offers shady woodland and colourful, flowery grassland.

Wildlife

The shady northern half has a good variety of mature trees, including copper beech, walnut, weeping ash, silver birch, pine and pedunculate oak. Beneath the trees, a typical woodland ground flora is developing, including ground elder, wood avens, germander speedwell, cow parsley and creeping soft-grass. The more open, southern half is mostly grassland and is managed as a wildflower meadow. The sward of cock's-foot and Yorkshire-fog contains a colourful range of common wildflowers, including meadow vetchling, oxeye daisy, common knapweed, lesser stitchwort, lady's bedstraw, red clover and teasel.
