Description
Wildlife
This large park is an interesting remnant of the former farming landscape which existed here in the past. There are surviving hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) and mixed hedges, and tree lines of mature oaks (Quercus robur) indicate the location of other former hedges. These trees and shrubs are an important source of food and shelter for birds. Otherwise, most of the park consists of closely-mown amenity grassland. It is popular for informal recreation and dog walking. A small area in the south is not frequently mown and consists of scrub and rough grassland. The site as a whole has great potential if the mowing regime were relaxed over a larger area.
