Description

This site includes an accessible section of the Pyl Brook, together with a small area of grassland between Willow Walk and the superstore.

Wildlife

This grassland area is of particular interest and has a chalk influence in places, with species such as yellow oat-grass, lady's bedstraw and dogwood. Other species of interest include crested dog's tail, cut-leaved crane's-bill, goat's-beard and musk mallow. Adjoining land to the east of the brook includes a small pond, rough grassland and a largely-disused allotment area, adding a number of extra species such as white bryony, wild carrot, fennel, marjoram and round-leaved fluellen, the latter rare in London. This area also supports a variety of breeding birds, including blackbird, wren, greenfich, chiffchaff and whitethroat.
