Avenue Gardens and Nightingale Gardens both have good selections of mature trees, including ash, poplars, cherry, oak, false acacia, whitebeams and lime.The former railway embankment between the two gardens is wooded with oak and sycamore, with an occasional field maple. The shrub layer consists largely of hawthorn, with a field layer dominated by bramble. The embankment continues to the east of Park Avenue, where it is known as Palace Gates.Facilities
