Thank you for your interest in becoming a GiGL Species Data Volunteer. Applications are now closed for Round 1 but please check back regularly for other volunteering opportunities.

Greenspace Information for Greater London CIC (GiGL) are seeking volunteers to assist the Community Team in managing and maintaining the species database. There are currently more than 6 million records in the species database, with more added every day. These records date back to the 19th Century and are an important source of information for those who make informed decisions in London.

We work with partners, recorders, customers and the general public to collate detailed information on London’s wildlife and open spaces. Data gathered by volunteer groups, individuals and during commercial surveys are valuable resources for future scientific and educational purposes. A key part of our work involves working with the data in its many different forms and managing it in a way that allows the best possible use of that data.

GiGL are looking to fill two volunteer role profiles. The Species data entry volunteer will be working to digitise and manage our many species datasets which are awaiting upload to the species database. The Species database maintenance volunteer will be working with the records once they have been uploaded. More information on each role can be found in the role profiles below.
